EF5 – From Risk to Response: IPV Assessment, Prevention, and Intervention 2‑HOUR SESSION

Intimate partner violence is prevalent, and research indicates that most counselors will encounter clients affected by IPV during their careers, often with limited formal training or preparation. This session examines IPV risk assessment instruments as both an ethical mandate and a practical tool for promoting survivor safety. Grounded in research on domestic violence and intimate partner homicide, this presentation focuses on how counselors can responsibly translate assessment findings into collaborative, clinical practice, balancing client autonomy and homicide risk.
